Tavi is very short and delicately built, with a narrow waist, soft rounded hips, and a compact presence that makes her seem easy to overlook until she moves. She walks with a springing, dancer-like step, always favoring her left foot as though balancing on the deck of a moving boat. Her dark hair is cut to her jaw and usually pinned with bright brass fishhooks, while several strands escape and cling to her cheeks in humid weather.
