Katalin Zsogai
Bard, College of Eloquence
Katalin Zsogai
Species
Yuan-ti pureblood
Appearance
Katalin moves with the controlled grace of someone always aware of where every limb is, her shoulders loose and her steps nearly silent even on warped tavern boards. Her skin has the warm, fine-grained texture of polished bronze overlaid with faint diamond scales along her ribs, hips, forearms, and the backs of her hands. A narrow hood of small scales frames the back of her head like a dark, glossy collar. Her smile is disarming until one notices that her upper canines are subtly elongated. She keeps her posture inviting and unthreatening, yet her stillness can suddenly become reptilian, absolute, and unnerving. The contradictory impression is immediate: she looks soft enough to trust and poised enough to strike before a thought is finished.
“Her voice is low, intimate, and carefully paced, with crisp hard consonants and a faint river-city accent. She often pauses just before a person's name, making the name feel like a deliberate gift.”

Distinguishing Features
A tarnished silver fan is always within reach. Its handle has been polished bright by years of her thumb rubbing the same crescent-shaped groove.
The scales on her knuckles catch light like fine black lacquer.
Her pupils narrow dramatically when she hears a lie, though she cannot always explain how she knows it is false.
She wears a tiny brass key through one pierced ear, despite having no visible lock it opens.
Her scent is faintly of clove oil, river mud, and crushed mint.
Voice
“A husky alto with a warm, close-mic quality. She can make a threat sound like a compliment and a compliment sound like a debt.”
Clothing
She wears no clothing by choice, but uses jewelry, body paint, a long black silk sash, and her ever-present silver fan as social and practical adornments. The sash is wrapped around her waist or shoulders when she wishes to appear formal, and discarded when she wants to make a point about ownership of her own body.
Body Language
She tilts her head in small, birdlike increments when listening, keeps one palm open and visible, and rests two fingers against the hinge of her silver fan whenever she is lying. When genuinely frightened, she becomes completely motionless except for the slow tightening of her pupils.
