Species
Human
Appearance
Barek Stone is a lean, unnervingly still human man whose matte-black plate armor seems to swallow torchlight rather than reflect it. The plates are thin and close-fitted, layered over strips of gray sound-dampening felt that give his movements a muted, padded quality. A polished steel half-mask covers his nose, mouth, and left cheek, while a narrow glare-coated optical slit hides one eye behind a faint amber sheen. His uncovered eye is pale brown and constantly measuring distances, angles, and exits. His gloves are scarred at the fingertips from years of handling wire, oil, and hot mechanisms. He moves with the deliberate economy of a pendulum reaching the end of its arc, never hurried and never visibly startled. The contradictory impression he leaves is that of a man built for violence who is almost tender with fragile machinery, touching ancient relics with the care of a surgeon handling a sleeping child.
“His natural voice is low, dry, and clipped, with long pauses that make every sentence sound like a final assessment. Through the half-mask, his words emerge slightly metallic and breathless.”

Distinguishing Features
A narrow amber optical slit in his steel half-mask
A white burn scar crossing the knuckles of his left hand
A habit of standing perfectly still for several minutes at a time
A tiny brass child’s whistle tied beneath his armor where no one can see it
Boot soles fitted with layered felt that make his armored footsteps nearly silent
Voice
“A low, dry, metallic voice that sounds like stone dragged across a whetstone. Every sentence is brief, carefully weighted, and followed by silence.”
Clothing
Matte-black sound-dampening plate armor over a charcoal undersuit, a polished steel half-mask, reinforced black gloves, soft-soled armored boots, and a heavy utility belt bearing tripwire spools, lockdown triggers, chalk capsules, spare bolts, and oil flasks.
Body Language
Barek communicates through precise finger signals, two-finger points, closed fists, and short tactical diagrams. He rarely turns his whole body toward a speaker, preferring to keep one shoulder angled toward the nearest exit. His head tilts by only a few degrees when evaluating a lie. When genuinely relieved, he briefly rests two fingers against the breastplate over his heart.
