Appearance
Rikk is a narrow, long-limbed man who seems assembled from angles, straps, and quiet intent. His black quilted gambeson hangs close to his body, its stitched channels raised like the ribs of a dark fish. Small steel plates protect his forearms, elbows, knees, and the backs of his hands, each plate dulled until it reflects only a blurred suggestion of light. He walks with his left heel lifted slightly, as though every floor might be thin ice, and his movements have a peculiar stop-start rhythm: complete stillness, then sudden precise motion. His face is clean-shaven except for a small wedge of beard beneath his lower lip. An unexpected softness breaks the severe impression: he has meticulously painted a tiny white bird on the inside of his right gauntlet, visible only when he draws his bow.
“His speech is clipped, practical, and low-volume. He often begins with 'No' or 'Wait' when he is actually trying to prevent someone from making a mistake.”

Distinguishing Features
He habitually presses his thumb against the inside seam of his right gauntlet to make sure a hidden object is still there.
His black gambeson is covered in tiny, hand-repaired stitches of dark blue thread, each repair marking a place where he escaped death.
He walks with his left heel raised slightly and can stand motionless for so long that people forget he is there.
A small white bird is painted inside his right gauntlet, an unexpectedly delicate mark on otherwise severe equipment.
His longbow has no decorative carving, but its grip is wrapped in strips of old household linen.
Voice
“A dry, quiet baritone with a mountain accent that rounds some vowels and clips the ends of sentences. When angered, he becomes softer rather than louder.”
Clothing
A black quilted gambeson reaches to mid-thigh and is cinched with faded blue wool cord. Over it he wears a short leather shoulder harness, reinforced plate bracers, plate elbow cops, plate knee cops, and articulated steel gauntlets. His trousers are charcoal gray wool tucked into soft-soled riding boots. A weatherproof hood hangs from his collar, and a strip of ochre cloth is tied around his left wrist as a family mourning custom.
Body Language
Rikk keeps his shoulders slightly rounded, as if sheltering a secret beneath them. His left hand repeatedly checks the stitching beneath his right gauntlet. He rarely gestures broadly. Instead, he indicates things with two fingers, a tilt of the chin, or a brief glance that makes people look behind themselves.
