Kelasyinan Apanyo
Kelasyinan Apanyo
At the table
Voice
His voice has a dry, chest-resonant rasp, the product of calling commands through a helm and breathing road dust for years. He articulates carefully, with a slight Elvish precision softened by a working cadence. His name is spoken plainly, without flourish. When furious, he does not soften or whisper; he clips each phrase short and makes his meaning impossible to mistake.
He speaks in measured, workmanlike sentences, shaped by years of issuing orders over wind, hooves, and clanging armor. His vocabulary is precise but not ornate; he prefers a concrete question to a grand declaration. When angry, he becomes more direct and uses names rather than titles. When embarrassed, he overexplains practical details.
Speech patterns
How to play them
He responds best to people who speak plainly and take responsibility for their choices. He offers practical help before asking for allegiance. If confronted with his past, he will admit what he did, but becomes guarded if someone tries to make his guilt a tool for controlling him. Show him a workable way to protect civilians and he will cooperate quickly; demand blind obedience and he will refuse, even at personal cost.
Goal
Expose the forced-relocation scheme and get the threatened families safely out before the magistrate can act, without turning the villages into a battlefield.
Motivation
To make protection mean something more than obedience, and to stop institutions from making vulnerable people pay for convenient order.
Appearance
Kelasyinan wears dark plate whose oiled surface drinks in lamplight, broken by narrow gold borders rubbed dull at the elbows and knees. His golden skin has the sun-burnished sheen of old bronze. A clean, pale scar cuts through the brow and down across his left eye; the eye remains sharp and dark amber. His black hair is tied at the nape with a strip of faded blue cloth, and a few silver strands have begun to show. He stands as if braced against a strong wind, weight settled on the balls of his feet, never quite leaning on his shield. The armor is meticulously cleaned, but the hem of his traveling cloak is patched with scraps of bright, childish embroidery, an unexpectedly tender repair he refuses to replace. He moves with measured economy, like a door being shut firmly rather than slammed. People tend to remember the contrast between his severe silhouette and that small, crookedly stitched hem.
Clothing
Dark plate armor, maintained with almost devotional care, over a charcoal traveling surcoat. A faded blue cloak has been patched at the hem with mismatched bright embroidery. He wears a plain leather belt, sturdy road boots, and no visible jewelry beyond a small sunburst holy symbol.
Body language
He keeps his feet planted shoulder-width apart and his shield angled toward the nearest uncertain threat, even during conversation. When listening, he inclines his head rather than nodding. His left hand often finds the repaired cloak hem, rubbing one embroidered stitch between thumb and forefinger. When ashamed, he squares his shoulders more rigidly instead of looking away.

Distinguishing features
Personality
12 traits and drivesKelasyinan is disciplined enough to keep a promise through hunger and exhaustion, yet suspicious of anyone who asks for obedience before explaining the cost. In a crisis he is decisive and physically protective; in a quiet room he can be unexpectedly patient, especially with children or people learning a trade. Praise embarrasses him, while sincere disagreement earns his attention. He can be stern with the powerful and almost awkwardly gentle with those who have no leverage.
- Alignment
- Lawful neutral, with a stubborn belief that order should protect the vulnerable rather than merely preserve authority.

Combat
AC 20 · HP 108 · 30 ft.Kelasyinan positions himself between danger and the least protected ally, using his shield and Aura of Protection to steady the group. He opens with Conquering Presence when enemies threaten civilians or try to break formation, then pins frightened foes within his Aura of Conquest while striking the most dangerous attacker. He reserves spell slots for Divine Smite against fiends, undead, or a foe whose fall will end immediate danger. He prefers to demand surrender before delivering a decisive blow, but does not let a plea for mercy expose an ally to a second attack.

Background
Kelasyinan was raised in a high-elven household that served as judges and oath-keepers for a remote hill principality. He believed law was a shelter until, during a border famine, his commander ordered a village sealed behind its own palisade to protect grain stores from a fever. Kelasyinan obeyed. His younger cousin, who had smuggled food through the cordon, died among those trapped inside. The memory broke his faith in obedience without judgment. He left the order, keeping its armor and its vows but no longer its unquestioned authority. Years on the road have made him a wandering templar who escorts refugees, arbitrates disputes, and hunts those who use fear as governance. He sends most of his pay to his former squire, Pavo, now a village healer, though neither has admitted how much they miss one another. His old commander, Oren, still seeks him out with offers of reconciliation that Kelasyinan cannot decide whether to accept. At present, a magistrate has accused Kelasyinan of stealing a sealed list of villages marked for forced relocation. He did take it, and the list includes the home of a family that once sheltered him.
Role in the story
A principled but compromised ally whose stolen evidence can expose an abuse of power. The party may need to help him protect the threatened families, persuade him to trust others with the truth, or decide whether his methods have endangered the very people he means to save.
“His younger cousin, who had smuggled food through the cordon, died among those trapped inside.”
- Faction
- Former oath-keeper of the hill principality's templar order; now an unaffiliated wandering templar who still honors its vows selectively.
