Varric Thorn
Warrior
Varric Thorn
Species
Human
Appearance
Varric looks like a man carved from old stormwood and left too long near a fire. His face is lean, with a hooked nose, a broken left canine that shows when he smirks, and a pale scar running from temple to jaw like a split seam in leather. He moves with a predator's stillness, but his right boot is repaired with bright blue thread and copper rivets, a strangely elegant touch against his rough travel gear. His cloak is patched from three different banners and always smells faintly of cedar resin, wet iron, and burned sage. When he is calm, he folds himself small and quiet; when angered, he straightens with the abruptness of a snapped branch.
“Low, deliberate, and edged with marsh metaphors. He tends to ask questions as if he already knows the answer, then waits to see whether others are honest enough to correct him.”

Distinguishing Features
A scar across the jaw that is always redder in moonlight
A compass tattoo on the inside of his left wrist with the needle permanently drawn south
Copper thread repairs in one boot
A small silver bell sewn into his cloak hem that never rings unless danger is near
Voice
“Rough as river gravel, quiet as a drawn blade, with a habit of going softer when he is most serious”
Clothing
Travel-worn leather jerkin layered under a faded marshal's half-cloak, wool trousers patched at the knees, knife boots, fingerless gloves, and a charm cord of teeth, nails, and river glass tied around his belt
Body Language
Stillness first, motion second. He holds eye contact a little too long, then looks away as if embarrassed by his own suspicion. When deciding whether to trust someone, he taps two fingers against his wrist scar.
