Theoden Gylvanur
Paladin, Oath of Devotion, with custom legendary authority
Theoden Gylvanur
Species
Elf
Appearance
Theoden is a tall silver-barked elf whose movements are unexpectedly quiet for a warrior carrying a great-hammer and wearing full plate. His armor is broad at the shoulders and scarred by old bronze filings, each plate smelling faintly of hot metal after battle. Maroon robes show beneath the joints and split around his greaves like dark petals. His long hair hangs in heavy cords, threaded with tarnished prayer rings, while his face remains narrow, weathered, and almost tender until he gives an order. One of his eyes is a clear green, the other a cloudy bronze that reflects candlelight even in darkness. His hands are callused and blackened at the fingertips from years of tending temple braziers. The contradiction is striking: he looks like a monument built for war, yet when he kneels beside the wounded, he moves with the careful gentleness of a midwife.
“His words are measured and resonant, with soft sibilants that lengthen when he is tired. He speaks in short clauses during battle and in careful, almost scholarly paragraphs during confession.”

Distinguishing Features
One eye is cloudy bronze and reflects flame even when no fire is nearby.
The fingers of his left hand are permanently darkened by sacred furnace soot.
His great-hammer bears hundreds of tiny names carved along the haft.
A thin line of white scar tissue circles his throat, left by a ceremonial execution he interrupted.
He smells faintly of cedar smoke, rain, and hot iron.
Voice
“A deep, weathered baritone with a breathy undertone, like wind passing through a bronze gate. His battle commands strike cleanly, while his prayers rasp softly at the edges as though they have traveled through smoke.”
Clothing
Maroon priestly robes woven with copper thread beneath articulated plate armor. A soot-dark mantle hangs from his left shoulder, clasped with the broken seal of the first Ingnyan king. He wears no crown, only a plain bronze circlet hidden beneath his hair.
Body Language
Theoden stands with his hammer resting against one shoulder, never quite leaning on it. He turns his cloudy bronze eye toward whoever speaks, then lowers his chin as if weighing their words on a scale. In anger, he becomes very still. In grief, his fingers repeatedly trace the same three points on his gauntlet, a private prayer made of touch.
