Captain Baelor Austra-Cleth
Species
Brass Dragonborn
Appearance
Captain Baelor Austra-Cleth is a rugged brass dragonborn whose sun-bright scales have been dulled to a gritty matte finish by decades of mountain smoke, freezing rain, and abrasive wind. His hide is ridged like old hammered metal, with pale scratches crossing his throat and darker soot embedded permanently around his jaw. Notched crest-horns frame a craggy face, and his amber eyes move constantly, measuring ropes, exits, hands, and footing rather than faces. He walks with the careful, economical balance of someone who has spent half a lifetime on bridges above clouds, placing each foot as if the stone might betray him. His armor is dented, oil-blackened, and ugly by aristocratic standards, yet every buckle is perfectly maintained. The contradictory impression is striking: he looks like a ruined monument, but moves with the quiet precision of a dancer.
“His voice is a low, gravelly baritone with a furnace-like undertone. He speaks in clipped sentences, rarely wastes a word, and becomes more formal when angry.”

Distinguishing Features
Three horn tips are missing, each cut away during a different high-bridge skirmish.
A pale burn scar crosses his left palm in the shape of a broken bridge cable.
His shield is covered in tally marks, one for every person he has personally pulled from a fall or fire.
He carries a tiny red thread braided around one horn, replaced every year on the anniversary of the Ashfall Riot.
His brass scales smell faintly of hot stone after he has used his breath weapon.
Voice
“A weathered commander's baritone, dry as iron filings and steady as a bell in a storm. Every sentence seems shaped to travel over wind, distance, and panic.”
Clothing
Dented utilitarian plate armor bears the insignia of the Concordance Watch beneath layers of weatherproof sealant. A dark red patrol cloak is clipped at one shoulder, its hem repaired with mismatched thread by different generations of sentries. He wears thick climbing gloves, iron-soled boots, and a narrow brass command sash covered in tiny route marks.
Body Language
Baelor keeps his shoulders square and his shield arm slightly forward, as though every conversation might become a sudden rescue. His head tilts toward distant bells and cable strain. When angry, he becomes unnaturally still. When genuinely moved, one claw taps twice against the rim of his shield.
