Barnaby Pimm
Rogue, Mastermind
Barnaby Pimm
Species
Rock Gnome
Appearance
Barnaby Pimm is a wrinkled elderly rock gnome with a narrow, severe face, a neatly trimmed white goatee, and sharp gray eyes that seem to weigh every person like an unpaid invoice. His skin is textured like warm granite dusted with freckles of iron-red pigment. He moves with a pronounced stoop and leans heavily on a gleaming brass-capped cane, yet his hands become astonishingly quick whenever a lock, ledger, or hidden mechanism is involved. His coat smells faintly of coal smoke, lavender starch, and hot metal. The unexpected contradiction is that his intimidating, funeral-director appearance is occasionally interrupted by a bright pink silk sock visible above one polished boot, a private act of rebellion against the Foundry Guild dress code.
“His voice is dry, precise, and rasping, like a quill dragged across coarse paper. He speaks slowly when issuing a warning and rapidly when discussing evidence.”

Distinguishing Features
A neatly trimmed white goatee divided into two precise points
A brass-capped walking cane containing a hidden compartment and a tiny mechanical homunculus
One pale burn scar crossing the left side of his jaw
Gray eyes with gold flecks that brighten in furnace light
Ink-stained fingertips despite his gloves
A pink silk sock worn beneath otherwise perfectly regulated guild attire
Voice
“A clipped elderly baritone with the formal cadence of a courtroom clerk, frequently punctuated by the tiny metallic shriek of Clatterwick's wings”
Clothing
A formal dust-resistant dark wool coat lined with hidden ledger pockets, a high-collared cream shirt, brass spectacles on a chain, charcoal trousers reinforced at the knees, polished black boots, gray gloves with the fingertips removed, and one deliberately ostentatious pink silk sock
Body Language
Barnaby keeps his shoulders hunched and his cane planted like a surveyor's marker. He taps the cane twice when suspicious, three times when angry, and once when he has already reached a conclusion. His eyes rarely meet another person's gaze for long because he is usually watching their hands.
