Brother Thaddeus Vane
Species
Bronze Dragonborn
Appearance
Brother Thaddeus Vane is a soft-spoken bronze dragonborn man whose burnished copper scales have darkened at the joints like old pennies exposed to salt air. Dim blue archive runes slide across his scales whenever he concentrates, making him appear briefly illuminated from beneath the skin. His movements are careful and nearly frictionless, with the silent precision of someone accustomed to carrying priceless glass through a battlefield. Thin gold-rimmed spectacles rest on the bridge of his snout, though one lens is permanently clouded by a hairline crack. He wears soft velvet gloves at all times to protect fragile pre-Sundering ledgers, even during combat. The unexpected contradiction is that his otherwise immaculate appearance includes a single ragged strip of red sailcloth tied around one wrist, stained with ancient seawater and never washed. He leaves behind an impression of warmth, dust, rain, and the uneasy feeling that he has already read the final page of everyone's story.
“Quiet, measured, and precise. He speaks in complete sentences with long pauses before names and dates.”

Distinguishing Features
A cracked gold-rimmed spectacle lens that never seems to fall from its setting.
A strip of faded red sailcloth tied around his left wrist.
Small brass catalog numbers tattooed along the inside of his right forearm.
Blue runes that glow beneath his scales when he encounters a magically altered document.
A faint smell of brine follows him even in sealed underground chambers.
Voice
“A low, warm baritone with a faint rasp like a quill moving over rough parchment. His volume rarely rises above a confidential murmur, even while casting spells or issuing orders.”
Clothing
Pristine dark-indigo academic robes reinforced with silver conductive thread, a high collar bearing the Bastion's salt-seal, soft velvet gloves, polished black archive boots, and a sleeveless storm-gray mantle clasped with a brass index plate
Body Language
Thaddeus keeps his shoulders relaxed and his hands folded over his stylus case. He tilts his head slightly when someone lies, not in suspicion but in almost scholarly interest. During danger, he becomes even more still, with only the tips of his gloved fingers moving as though turning invisible pages.
