Strongman Informant
Burley Qhapaqch'ik
Species
Bugbear
Appearance
Burley is a towering bugbear with sandy-gold fur that grows in uneven, storm-tossed layers, as though he has been sleeping beneath circus tarps for years. His shoulders are broad enough to make doorframes seem narrow, but he moves with surprising delicacy, placing each foot as carefully as a dancer. His left ear is stitched with red silk, and a pale scar cuts across his muzzle where a carnival hook once caught him during a rigging collapse. His hands are enormous and permanently marked by iron dust, yet he handles teacups, moths, and frightened children with exquisite gentleness. The contradictory impression is immediate: he looks built to tear a wagon apart, but when someone raises their voice, his first instinct is to apologize.
“His voice is a deep, resonant rumble softened by careful pauses. He speaks slowly when comforting someone and rapidly when describing a conspiracy.”

Distinguishing Features
A stitched left ear threaded with red silk.
A jagged scar across the muzzle.
Tiny bumblebee wings that are absurdly delicate compared with his body.
Iron dust permanently embedded in the lines of his palms.
A brass button from an old caravan coat sewn inside his collar.
Voice
“A low, honeyed rumble with the occasional gravelly laugh. He can project across the Big Top without seeming to raise his voice, but in private his speech drops almost to a whisper.”
Clothing
Faded indigo dungarees reinforced with mismatched leather patches, a striped undershirt, brass-buckled lifting belt, scuffed red boots, and tiny yellow bumblebee wings strapped between his shoulders. His jack-o'-lantern helmet is made from painted papier-mache over a dented iron cap, with candlelight glowing through three uneven teeth.
Body Language
Burley keeps his elbows tucked close despite his size, making himself appear smaller in conversation. During performances he expands into a ridiculous, heroic silhouette. When someone mentions the Feywild, his fingers close around an invisible circle as though gripping a lost compass.
