Appearance
Nádia is a broad-shouldered woman with the grounded strength of someone accustomed to carrying crates of books up narrow staircases. Her movements are deliberate but never slow, and she turns her whole body toward anyone who speaks, as if granting them the dignity of her full attention. A blue wool cord is always wrapped three times around her left wrist, holding a tiny clay bead stamped with a sunburst. The cord is frayed and darkened exactly where it rubs against the rim of her shield. She smells faintly of cedar dust, lamp oil, and mountain rain. Her expression is usually calm, but her hands reveal her mood, tightening around the cord whenever she hears an argument built on a false quotation. The unexpected contradiction is her armor: practical chain and battered leather protect a woman whose most carefully maintained possession is a collection of delicate pressed flowers tucked between pages of military histories.
“Measured and low, with careful pauses. She speaks gently to the frightened and with unnerving precision to the dishonest.”

Distinguishing Features
A frayed blue wrist cord with a sunburst clay bead, polished smooth by constant touching.
She carries a shield whose inner surface is covered in tiny handwritten names of people she has protected or failed to protect.
Her gaze habitually travels to books, doorways, and hands before settling on a person's face.
A faint line of white ink marks her right palm, a failed protective script from her apprenticeship.
Her chain mail contains three mismatched links made from copper, silver, and black iron, each taken from a different ruined archive.
Voice
“A warm contralto with a dry rasp at the edges, like paper sliding over a wooden desk. When angry, she becomes quieter rather than louder.”
Clothing
A patched blue-gray scholar's coat beneath chain mail, reinforced traveling trousers, thick wool socks, and mud-stained riding boots. Her shield bears a simple white lamp over an open book. A red sash from her mother's weaving hangs beneath the armor and is visible only when she kneels.
Body Language
Nádia stands squarely, with her shield held close to her body rather than brandished. She watches hands before faces in tense situations, then deliberately shifts her gaze to the speaker's eyes when trust is being offered. When angry, she becomes very still and smooths the same worn section of her wrist cord with her thumb.
