Appearance
A sharp-eyed rock gnome with a wedge-shaped face, polished copper spectacles resting low on his nose, and fingers permanently darkened by grease that no soap can remove. His skin has the warm, pebbled texture of weathered sandstone, while his iron-gray hair stands in stiff tufts as though startled by static. He moves in abrupt, economical bursts, rarely walking when he can pivot, duck, or slide beneath a mechanism. His heavy tool harness jingles with precision calipers, wire-cutters, tension wrenches, ceramic fuses, and tiny numbered tags. He leaves behind the impression of a clockwork bird trying very hard to appear calm. Unexpectedly, despite his grim maintenance work and constant suspicion, Fennick wears one delicate yellow silk ribbon tied around his left wrist, carefully laundered and never explained.

A soot-brown work coat reinforced with leather shoulder panels, a moss-green waistcoat with brass buttons, reinforced charcoal trousers, soft climbing boots, and a sprawling copper-and-leather tool harness. His spectacles have retractable side lenses for examining gears and root fibers.
Body Language
His shoulders remain slightly hunched, as if beneath an invisible ceiling. He taps two fingers against his thumb while thinking, angles his body toward exits, and freezes completely when he hears a voice from below. When relieved, he loosens one harness strap and exhales through his nose in three measured pulses.
