Edwin Varn
Sorcerer, Divine Soul
Edwin Varn
Species
Human
Appearance
Edwin Varn is a composed human man of medium height whose stillness feels deliberate rather than natural. He has a narrow, intelligent face, a straight nose broken once and healed slightly crooked, and sharp observant eyes that seem to inventory a room before they acknowledge it. His hands are always visible, relaxed, and carefully groomed, with square nails and one pale burn scar crossing the right palm. A fox face of lacquered dark wood is strapped slightly askew against his head, painted deep amber and black with restrained gold around the eyes. It covers his forehead to just above the lip, leaving his mouth exposed on purpose. His movements are economical and quiet, but his coat hems sway a fraction of a second after he stops, as if trailing invisible wind. The contradictory impression is striking: he looks like a man made for expensive rooms, yet he has the patient balance and weathered feet of someone accustomed to sleeping beneath wagons.
“His voice is low, smooth, and carefully paced, with clipped consonants and an unusual stress that often falls on the second-to-last word of a sentence. He sounds educated without sounding academic.”

Distinguishing Features
A slightly tilted fox mask of lacquered dark wood, always leaving his mouth visible.
A pale burn scar crossing the center of his right palm.
His left cuff contains three tiny brass beads, each engraved with the name of a person he failed to save.
He smells faintly of cedar oil, rain-damp wool, and orange peel.
His shadow sometimes points toward the nearest door even when the light comes from another direction.
Voice
“A low, measured baritone with a dry warmth, like polished wood warmed by a banked fire.”
Clothing
A precisely tailored charcoal coat with a wine-red inner lining, a cream high-collared shirt, soft black trousers, polished ankle boots, and a narrow sash woven with rust-red and gold geometric patterns. Every garment is expensive but subdued. His gloves are carried rather than worn, since he wants his hands seen.
Body Language
Edwin keeps both hands open at waist height, palms occasionally turned upward as if weighing invisible coins. He tilts his head instead of nodding, rarely blinks during a lie, and touches the fox mask only when someone mentions his brother. In danger, his posture becomes almost unnaturally still, while his exposed mouth forms a faint, courteous smile.
