Sable Magdolyn
Artificer (Battle Smith)
Sable Magdolyn
Species
Drow
Appearance
Sable is the picture of cultivated nobility that doesn't quite belong in sunlight. He keeps his ebony skin immaculate — neither oil-sheen nor matting — like smooth obsidian polished by careful, nightly clothings. His face is narrow and almost adolescent: high cheekbones, a small, elegant nose, and a pale scar that runs from the corner of his left lip to his jawline (a faint white line, a whisper of a grin he does not wear). His movements are precise; he walks as if testing the balance of every step. He favors the faint sway of a courtier rather than the quick, predatory glide of the stereotypical drow. Unexpectedly, when he is relaxed he fidgets with the cuff of his left sleeve to reveal a series of tiny, crude tattoos — tally marks in a halting human script marking places and dates important to him. The overall impression: immaculate restraint with tiny, human crumbs of disorder.
“Measured, soft, and courtly with a hint of subterranean accent — he prefers precise words and often frames statements as questions to allow people to save face. When angry he grows quieter rather than louder, letting silence press like a blade.”

Distinguishing Features
Faint white scar along left cheek to jaw
Tiny tally-mark tattoos on the inside of his left sleeve
A signet ring with his sister's crest that he polishes obsessively
Lavender drow eyes that glow faintly in dim light
Voice
“Soft, even-toned, with a cultured pitch; his polite cadence carries an undercurrent of fatigue and precise enunciation.”
Clothing
Impeccably tailored dark silks and smoked leather — a sleeved doublet embroidered with his sister's sigil in matte thread, a long, charcoal waistcoat lined with pockets for vials and tools, and a light plated gorget hidden beneath a high collar. He sometimes wears a silken black cloak with the hood edged in a silver filigree of coastal waves.
Body Language
Closed posture with hands kept in front or behind; he avoids putting his back to people and often inclines his head in a practiced bow when listening.
