Asinus is a narrow, carefully groomed man whose body seems built from elbows, knuckles, and tightly held breath. His movements are soft and economical, with the cautious grace of someone crossing a floor covered in sleeping dogs. His cheeks are sagging, but his hands remain elegant and quick, each finger tipped with a clean, translucent nail. He smells faintly of rosewater, lamp oil, and damp wool. His unexpected contradiction is that his face becomes genuinely gentle when he handles injured animals, even while he speaks to desperate tenants with cold amusement. He leaves people with the impression of a priest who has learned every trick of a cardsharp.
