Elaris Vaelith
Bard
Elaris Vaelith
Species
Wood Elf
Appearance
Elaris is a slender wood elf with the weathered elegance of someone who has spent a century handling rare objects and difficult people. Her skin has the muted bronze tone of polished cedar, marked by fine pale scars across her left cheek that resemble a cracked musical staff. Her long, dark copper hair is threaded with living green moss that remains fresh even in winter. She moves with a careful, gliding economy, never quite seeming to put her heels down. At first glance she appears delicate and aristocratic, but her hands are broad-knuckled, callused, and permanently stained with blue ink and lampblack. The unexpected contradiction is her smile, which is warm, crooked, and openly mischievous, making her look less like a refined elven musician and more like a successful smuggler who has learned excellent manners.
“Her speech is measured and musical, with clipped consonants when she is serious and lilting vowels when she is amused. She uses old woodland proverbs, precise commercial language, and sudden blunt observations.”

Distinguishing Features
A cracked musical-staff scar across the left cheek.
Living moss woven through her dark copper hair.
A missing tip on the left ear, cut away during the border war.
A blue ink stain around the right thumb that no solvent removes.
Her shadow occasionally moves a half-second later than she does.
Voice
“A low, clear contralto with a dry rasp beneath it, like a reed instrument played in a stone room. When casting, her voice splits into a harmony that seems to come from somewhere behind the listener.”
Clothing
She wears a moss-green waistcoat over a cream linen shirt, narrow charcoal trousers, soft bark-brown boots, and a weatherproof cloak fastened with a brass cicada brooch. Numerous inner pockets hold chalk, tuning forks, receipts, lockpicks, and folded notes. Her cuffs are embroidered with tiny red stitches that form a coded inventory system.
Body Language
Elaris angles her body toward exits while speaking, folds one thumb over the other when lying, and taps rhythms against her wrist when thinking. In anger she becomes almost motionless, with only the moss in her hair betraying her agitation.
