Species
Dwarf
Appearance
Ketta is a young dwarf with a broad, muscular torso and powerful arms, but her proportions are unusually humanlike, with long forearms, a narrow waist, and legs built for distance rather than climbing. She stands perfectly upright, never hunched, and moves with a quiet rolling gait that makes her seem to glide over uneven ground. Her face has a blunt, practical beauty: a square jaw softened by a small chin, high cheeks, a straight nose, and expressive brows that seem to speak before she does. Her skin has the texture of warm river clay, with faint freckles scattered across her shoulders and the bridge of her nose. Her hair is thick and dark, shaved close at the sides and gathered into a short, stiff braid behind one ear. She has no beard, and she is openly proud of that fact. The unexpected feature is her delicate hands, long-fingered and nimble enough to thread a needle or dismantle a trap, despite the dense strength of the rest of her body. Before speaking, she usually draws a quiet breath through her nose and clicks her tongue once against her teeth, as if testing the shape of the sentence.
“Low and clear, with a dry rasp at the edges of certain consonants. She speaks in compact sentences and leaves deliberate pauses before important words.”

Distinguishing Features
A short, rigid braid that sticks out behind her left ear like a corded fuse.
Long, nimble fingers with permanently darkened nail beds from charcoal, oil, and stone dust.
A habit of clicking her tongue once before speaking.
An upright, almost humanlike posture that contrasts with her unmistakably dwarven density and strength.
A small brass button sewn inside her collar, taken from her brother's work coat.
Voice
“A low contralto with a dry, stony rasp, as though every sentence has passed over gravel. Her breathing is normally almost silent, but when agitated she inhales sharply through her nose before each sentence.”
Clothing
Light scout attire consisting of a moss-green linen shirt, sleeveless brown leather jerkin, fitted charcoal trousers, soft-soled boots, fingerless gloves, a gray hooded half-cloak, and several narrow belts carrying cord, chalk, flint, and small tools. She wears no helm and no beard adornment.
Body Language
Ketta keeps her weight balanced over the balls of her feet, with one hand usually resting near a knife sheath. When relaxed, she folds her arms and taps two fingers against her bicep in a steady rhythm. When rattled, her breathing becomes shallow and audible, and the tongue-click before her words becomes a rapid series of dry clicks.
