Seli
Seal Clerk and covert document smuggler
Seli
Species
Tiefling
Appearance
Seli is a compact, sharp-featured tiefling with umber-red skin that has a fine, almost velvety texture and faint gold freckles across the bridge of the nose. Their black horns curl backward like polished ram horns, each ridged with tiny brass bands engraved with obsolete legal phrases. Seli moves with the quick, economical precision of someone accustomed to crowded archives, always turning sideways through a doorway and never brushing against furniture. Their pale amber eyes rarely look at the person speaking. They watch hands, pockets, exits, and the nearest unattended seal instead. They smell faintly of sealing wax, bitter orange peel, and rain-soaked paper, a scent they insist comes from the archives even though it follows them everywhere. The unexpected contradiction is their immaculate hands: despite years of handling ink, wax, and contraband documents, their fingers are always spotless, while the cuffs of their clothing are permanently stained black.
“Seli speaks quickly, clearly, and with exaggerated courtesy when irritated. Their sentences often begin like formal legal declarations before swerving into dry jokes.”

Distinguishing Features
Brass bands engraved with obsolete legal phrases circle both horns.
Their gaze tracks hands and exits rather than faces.
They wear a Council seal upside down, claiming it is the only honest orientation.
Their tail is decorated with a tiny ring of red wax that clicks softly against their boot when they walk.
Their spotless gloves contrast with permanently ink-dark cuffs.
Voice
“A bright contralto with a dry edge, quick enough to sound mischievous and controlled enough to become intimidating without ever rising in volume.”
Clothing
A charcoal clerk's coat reinforced with hidden inner pockets, a rust-red waistcoat, narrow trousers, soft-soled boots, and a white collar pinned with the Ark Council seal. Their gloves are pale linen and always clean. A chain of brass document tubes hangs beneath the coat, invisible unless Seli moves quickly.
Body Language
Seli keeps their shoulders relaxed but their tail coiled close to their legs, as if conserving space. They tap one horn when calculating a risk, tilt their head toward lies, and place their palm flat over any document they consider important. When genuinely frightened, they become perfectly still.
