Karruava Orbelu
Laborer and Arena Veteran
Karruava Orbelu
Species
Mul
Appearance
Karruava is a broad, powerfully built mul with the dense, practical musculature of someone who has hauled stone for half a lifetime. His shoulders are enormous, his forearms knotted with old tendon scars, and his hands are permanently roughened into pale ridges. His nose was broken twice in the arena and healed slightly crooked. A lattice of thin white scars crosses his chest, while one deep crescent scar runs from his left temple to the corner of his mouth. He moves with surprising quiet for a man of his size, placing each foot as carefully as if every floor might collapse. The contradictory detail is his face: despite his intimidating frame and brutal history, he has a remarkably gentle expression when listening, with soft eyes and an almost embarrassed smile.
“His voice is low, dry, and deliberate, with a clipped arena cadence that becomes almost musical when he speaks to children or gives work instructions..”

Distinguishing Features
A pale crescent scar from the left temple to the mouth.
A missing tip of the right index finger from an arena chain trap.
A copper water token worn on a cord around his neck.
One ear is pierced with a tiny iron ring shaped like a closed gate.
His shadow falls slightly to the left even when the sun is directly overhead, a harmless but unsettling remnant of an old arena psionic experiment.
Voice
“A deep baritone with a rasp like stone dragged across stone. He speaks softly when giving orders, forcing people to listen, and raises his voice only when he wants the entire settlement to hear.”
Clothing
A sleeveless sand-colored work tunic patched with blue thread, wrapped forearms, a leather harness for tools, heavy desert sandals, and a faded red arena sash worn beneath his belt as a private reminder. He wears a copper water token around his neck, though he never explains where it came from.
Body Language
Karruava keeps his torso angled between strangers and the settlement’s vulnerable spaces. When calm, he rests both hands on the head of his pick. When angry, he becomes almost motionless, with only his left thumb rubbing the scar at his wrist.
