Valerius Montprom IV
Fighter, Battle Master
Valerius Montprom IV
Species
Human
Appearance
Duke Valerius Montprom IV is a tall, aging human with the weathered elegance of a carved monument. His face is narrow and heavily lined, with a pale scar running from the corner of his mouth to the hinge of his jaw. His silver hair is worn long at the nape and tied with a simple black cord, while his close-trimmed beard has gone almost entirely white. He walks with a slight stiffness in his left leg, yet his upper body remains perfectly erect, and every turn of his shoulders carries the practiced economy of a cavalry officer. His hands are broad and knotted, marked by old burns and calluses beneath jeweled signet rings. The unexpected softness is in his eyes, a warm hazel that becomes almost tender when he speaks of horses, children, or vineyards. He leaves behind the impressions of beeswax, cold iron, and rain striking stone.
“His speech is low, formal, and carefully paced, with clipped military diction softened by a rural Jorthiel cadence. He rarely raises his voice.”

Distinguishing Features
A pale scar from his mouth to his jaw, partially hidden by his beard.
A slight limp caused by a lance wound that never healed correctly.
A black signet ring engraved with the names of nine dead Montprom dukes.
His left thumb is permanently stained dark from handling old iron-and-ink military maps.
His voice becomes unexpectedly warm when speaking to animals or frightened children.
Voice
“A resonant baritone worn smooth by years of issuing commands across rain, smoke, and cavalry thunder.”
Clothing
A dark wine-colored military coat beneath articulated black-steel half-plate, lined with cream wool and fastened by square silver clasps. His cloak bears the embroidered mountain-and-vine crest of Montprom, but its inner hem is patched with plain gray cloth from a common infantry blanket. He wears polished riding boots, a weathered signet ring, and a narrow sash containing the names of fallen officers.
Body Language
Valerius keeps one hand near the hilt of his sabre even during peaceful meetings. He stands as though braced against wind, favors his left leg when tired, and turns his scarred side toward people he distrusts. When moved by affection, he briefly touches the nearest solid surface, a table, pillar, or saddle, as if steadying himself against the feeling.
