Mara is a broad-shouldered mountain dwarf with iron-brown skin polished smooth by years of underground dust and careful oils. Her cropped hair is the color of old copper, threaded with two deliberate white streaks that she refuses to dye. Her left cheek bears a pale seam of fused stone, the scar left by a quarry blast, while her hands are surprisingly delicate, with ink-stained fingers and immaculate nails. She moves with measured economy, never wasting a step, yet her calm gait becomes almost dancer-like when she crosses unstable ground. The contradiction unsettles people: she looks built to split boulders, but handles a contract seal as gently as a grieving child.
