Appearance
Lord Orpitio Ondarus is a broad-shouldered, carefully maintained man whose presence feels less like grandeur than architecture. His dark hair has silvered heavily at the temples and along the crown, combed back with oil but never made glossy. His beard is clean-shaven close enough to reveal the warm brown of his skin and the faint blue shadow of a man who refuses to look tired. He moves with economical precision, never wasting a step, though his left hand often drifts toward empty air as if reaching for a sword he has already surrendered to a ceremonial bearer. His silver legionnaire armor is polished at the chest and dulled at the elbows, where years of leaning over maps have worn the finish into pale moons. He smells faintly of cedar oil, old paper, and the bitter mint lozenges he keeps under his tongue. Unexpectedly, his hands are delicate and ink-stained, with the soft fingertips of a calligrapher rather than a veteran general.
“Measured and low, with an educated Deihnari accent softened by decades of speaking to common soldiers. He pauses before names and never raises his voice unless giving a battlefield order.”

Distinguishing Features
The smell of cedar oil, old paper, and bitter mint follows him into a room.
A small bronze river token hangs from his belt, its lower edge polished bright from years of rubbing it with his thumb.
His left gauntlet has a single repaired seam in dark blue thread, visibly newer than the surrounding silver leather.
He keeps his beard perfectly clean even after battle, but his cuffs are almost always marked with ink.
He smiles rarely, yet when he does, it is startlingly gentle and makes him look younger by a decade.
Voice
“A low, calm baritone with a dry warmth that makes formal orders feel almost conversational. When exhausted, his voice becomes softer rather than weaker, forcing listeners to lean closer.”
Clothing
Ceremonial silver legionnaire armor over a dark blue wool tunic, a cream sash bearing the seal of House Ondarus, soft leather riding boots, and a weatherproof gray cloak lined with faded red silk. He wears no rings except a plain iron signet on a cord beneath his shirt.
Body Language
He stands perfectly still when angry, with both hands folded over the pommel of his sabre. In relaxed moments he tilts his head slightly toward whoever is speaking, as if listening for a second voice beneath their words. He touches the worn leather seam of his left gauntlet whenever someone mentions his eldest son.
