Appearance
Lord Alerian Molania is a narrow, elderly man whose first impression is of weakness until he begins to speak. His slick silver hair is combed straight back from a high brow, while his full beard is carefully squared and threaded with tiny red ribbons marking family anniversaries. A black silk eyepatch covers his left eye, embroidered with a dull crimson moth. His visible eye is a watery gray, bright and measuring. His skin is parchment-pale across the face but ruddy and weather-darkened over the hands and neck, the result of decades spent inspecting orchards, tenant roads, and flood barriers personally. His fingers are long, swollen at the knuckles, and permanently stained with ink, lampblack, and medicinal redroot. He moves with a frail, careful shuffle, yet his cane strikes the floor with the exact rhythm of a marching officer. The contradictory impression is striking: he looks as if a strong wind might fold him in half, but rooms unconsciously make space when he enters.
“His voice is low, dry, and beautifully articulated, with a faint Deihnari lilt. He speaks slowly enough to make impatient people reveal themselves.”

A full silver beard tied with red ribbons at formal family gatherings
Ink-darkened fingertips and swollen knuckles from a lifetime of writing, accounting, and tending medicinal plants
A silver-headed cane that rings once against stone before he speaks an important sentence

Voice
“A low, dry baritone with a soft Deihnari cadence, capable of becoming intimate enough to sound like a secret or precise enough to sound like a verdict”
Clothing
A deep red noble shirt of heavy silk beneath a fitted wine-colored waistcoat, black tailored trousers, polished brown boots, a long charcoal coat lined in family crimson, and a silver signet ring bearing a pomegranate split by a river. He wears no armor, only layered protective charms sewn into the coat lining.
Body Language
Alerian keeps one hand wrapped around his cane and the other folded over his ribs as though protecting an old ache. He leans toward people when they speak, even when he already knows what they will say. In anger, he stops blinking. In tenderness, he touches the back of a person's hand with two ink-stained fingers.
