Hethin Vance
Wizard 14, Divination; Rogue 4, Mastermind
Hethin Vance
Species
Human
Appearance
A lean, impeccably groomed human man with fine pale skin and the stillness of a sealed room. His sharp gray eyes sit behind thin-rimmed spectacles whose lenses reflect columns of figures even when no paper is nearby. His jaw is narrow but powerful, and when he eats he cuts every bite into identical cubes before chewing with small, precise movements. When he laughs, which is rare, his upper teeth show in a startlingly broad, almost boyish grin that makes his severity seem briefly theatrical. He moves without hurry and without audible footfalls, gliding across marble as if the building itself has agreed to carry him. The unexpected contradiction is that his immaculate hands are permanently ink-stained, with blue-black pigment worked into the creases around his nails like old bruising.
“A soft, unhurried murmur with exact diction and almost no wasted breath. He rarely uses contractions.”

Distinguishing Features
A broad, unexpectedly youthful grin appears when he laughs, revealing unusually square upper teeth.
Blue-black ink is permanently embedded in the creases of his fingers and around his nails.
His spectacles reflect faint moving columns of numerals when he is concentrating.
He touches and checks the left clasp of his silver ledger case whenever someone lies.
His footsteps are nearly impossible to hear, even on bare marble.
Voice
“Low, dry, and intimate, with the calm rhythm of a clerk reading a funeral account”
Clothing
A high-collared, perfectly tailored robe of dark slate-gray wool, fastened with heavy silver clasps engraved with the Coalition's interlocking sun-and-chain emblem. He wears a cream waistcoat, black gloves with the fingertips removed for writing, soft-soled velvet shoes, and a slim silver ledger case tucked beneath his arm.
Body Language
Hethin stands with his shoulders slightly rounded over his ledger case, as though protecting a private flame. He repeatedly adjusts the left spectacle arm, checks the clasps of his case, and presses his thumb against the edge of his smallest silver ring. His head tilts toward quiet voices, forcing others to lean toward him. When displeased, he stops blinking for several seconds.
