Appearance
High Inquisitor Karrath Ash-Brand is a massively built red-scaled dragonborn whose body seems forged rather than born. His scales are deep furnace red, dulled by soot and crossed with pale, rope-like scars. Thick battle-pitted obsidian-black plate armor is strapped over his powerful frame with red leather belts, iron buckles, and seals stamped into the metal while it was still hot. Two jagged, iron-banded horns curve sharply back from his brow. His smoldering orange eyes burn with unyielding authority, but one eye is clouded at the edge by an old blade wound. He carries a towering, notched poleaxe engraved with the draconian enforcement runes of the Cinder Bailiffs. His heavy tail bears overlapping scars from frontline skirmishes and disciplinary crackdowns. He moves with startling economy for his size, never wasting a gesture, yet when he stands motionless he resembles a chained statue about to break free. The unexpected softness of his appearance is a narrow strip of pale blue prayer-cloth tied beneath his gorget, carefully washed and mended despite the rest of him being blackened by war.

Karrath keeps his shoulders square and his chin slightly lowered, forcing others to look up at him. He plants the butt of his poleaxe before speaking and grips it with one claw whenever someone disappoints him. When furious, he becomes unnaturally still. When amused, only the tip of his tail moves.
