Her beard is braided into three thin cords — an uncommon choice she keeps tucked and pinned under a high collar — and a thin silver hair-thread runs through the left braid, the kind miners used as a tally for debts. Her skin is weathered and freckled with flint-smoke. She favors a leather half-cape that swings only on her left shoulder; the right shoulder bears a patchwork of darker leather and faint burn marks. When she pauses, she often rubs the inside of her wrist as if checking a missing pulse. Up close, one notices old soot under her nails and the faint scent of iron and mitral—compounds used in forge oils—despite her life away from the forges. Contradiction: her hands are callused and rigid but her fingers are quick and delicate—capable of both hammering a rivet and picking a lock with practiced grace.
