Vrakthor Vurnthrik
Species
Black Dragonborn
Appearance
Vrakthor is a towering black dragonborn whose acid-burnished scales have the dull sheen of wet basalt. The plates along his shoulders and spine are unusually smooth, polished by years of ceremonial grooming, while the scales of his hands are roughened and pale at the fingertips from handling sulfur salts, treaty seals, and warding chalk. His movements are economical, almost delicate for someone of his size. Within a minute of meeting him, most people notice that he repeatedly presses one claw against the inside of his left wrist, checking the pulse there as though confirming that his body remains under his command. His expression rarely changes, yet his nostrils flare at the smell of hot metal and his throat vibrates faintly whenever someone lies. The unexpected contradiction is his hands. They look like an administrator's hands, clean and carefully manicured, but they carry the ingrained yellow-white residue of a refinery worker that no soap can remove. When his magic rises, green light travels beneath his scales like swamp fire, and the sulfur circlet around his brow begins to whisper against the air.
“His voice is low, breathy, and precise, with sibilant consonants that seem to slide through the room. He speaks slowly enough to make every pause feel deliberate, and he pronounces names flawlessly even when he intends to threaten their owners.”

Distinguishing Features
A sulfur circlet that emits green ward-light and gives off a faint mineral chime when struck by magic.
A constant, unconscious habit of checking the pulse inside his left wrist.
Clean, carefully manicured claws permanently stained at the tips by refinery sulfur.
A low vibration in his throat whenever he detects deliberate falsehood.
A ceremonial mantle lined with hundreds of tiny metal tags, each engraved with the name of a person whose death altered House Vurnthrik's history.
Voice
“A deep, dry baritone with a faint rasp, like hot sand poured across metal. His sibilants are unusually soft, almost intimate, which makes his threats more disturbing rather than less.”
Clothing
Reinforced black scale mail lies beneath immaculate ceremonial robes of charcoal silk and dark green thread. His mantle is fastened with three sealed iron clasps bearing House Vurnthrik's marsh-serpent insignia. A heavy circlet of crystallized sulfur rests above his brow, shedding a faint green shimmer whenever his wards activate. His boots are fitted with acid-resistant soles and carry a subtle medicinal smell of bitterroot and ash.
Body Language
Vrakthor stands with his shoulders square and his chin slightly lowered, forcing others to look up into his eyes. He keeps one hand near his sulfur scepter and the other touching his wrist. In anger, he becomes more still, not less. His tail makes slow, controlled movements behind him, sweeping dust into precise arcs across the floor.
