Niko Dema
Fighter, Battle Master
Niko Dema
Species
Badger-person, a custom beastfolk lineage
Appearance
Niko is a broad-shouldered, russet-coated badger-person who seems to occupy a little more space than her frame should allow. She stands squarely, paws planted, and turns her whole torso to address people rather than swiveling her head. Her short, dense fur lies sleek along her back but sticks up in pale bristles around her jaw when she is tired. Her movements are deliberate and quiet, oddly gentle for someone who can lift a gate beam alone. The unexpected detail is her immaculate, carefully combed whiskers, which she smooths before inspecting a battlefield.
“Low and measured, with a faint rasp at the end of long shifts. Her orders are crisp without being shouted; her jokes arrive so dryly that new recruits sometimes mistake them for instructions.”

Distinguishing Features
Her whiskers are combed into neat parallel lines, even after a muddy patrol.
The brass whistle at her throat is polished everywhere except for one thumb-worn groove on its rim.
She moves with surprising quietness despite her broad frame.
A faint smell of lamp oil and crushed mint clings to her coat.
Voice
“A chest-deep contralto with a blunt, steady rhythm; when she is exhausted, her consonants soften and her sentences get shorter.”
Clothing
A fitted, dark iron breastplate over a quilted umber coat, with a faded blue command sash and a wool collar that has been carefully mended. Her gloves are patched at the palms. A brass whistle hangs on a cord, its rim worn smooth where her thumb rubs it.
Body Language
She plants herself where she can see both the speaker and the nearest approach. When listening, she lowers her muzzle slightly and goes very still. Her paws rest open at her sides unless someone mentions the flood or the well, when her claws press briefly into her palms.
