Appearance
Lord Klaudis Gerthar is an attractive, broad-shouldered man whose presence seems to arrive a moment before he does. His brown hair is slicked back with bay oil, though several iron-grey streaks have broken through at the temples and refuse to lie flat. He wears a carefully trimmed goatee, a high forehead, and a mouth that appears stern until he smiles, when he looks unexpectedly kind. His steel plate armor is darkened to a muted green along the breastplate and pauldrons, with brass edging, angular heraldic panels, and deep forest-colored leather straps. The armor is immaculate except for a permanent dusting of pale trail grit around the sabatons. He walks with a measured, slightly rolling gait, favoring his left leg after years in the saddle, but he can become unnervingly still when watching prey. Within a minute of meeting him, most people notice that he stands closer than etiquette permits and seems entirely unaware of how much space he occupies. The contradiction is that this imposing nobleman handles delicate objects with the care of a village midwife and becomes visibly uncomfortable when servants kneel before him.
“His speech is formal but not ornate, shaped by military reports, estate hearings, and long days outdoors. He pronounces names carefully and rarely uses contractions when issuing an order.”

Distinguishing Features
A grey streak in his slicked brown hair curls upward like a small horn no matter how much oil he uses.
His green steel armor bears dozens of tiny engraved tally marks, one for every tenant death recorded during his tenure.
He wears a wedding ring made from blackened horseshoe iron rather than gold.
His left leg has a subtle ridingman's roll, but he can stand absolutely still for minutes while observing a target.
He carries a folded linen square embroidered with a child's crooked blue bird, a keepsake he never explains.
Voice
“A low, weathered baritone with a faintly rough edge, like gravel beneath polished speech. He can fill a great hall without shouting, yet he lowers his voice when he wants someone to obey immediately.”
Clothing
Dark green and steel plate armor over a charcoal padded gambeson, a forest-green mantle fastened with a brass stag clasp, high riding boots, grey wool gloves, and a plain iron signet ring. At formal dinners he wears a severe black doublet with green piping and keeps one armored gauntlet on his left hand.
Body Language
Klaudis plants both feet squarely before difficult conversations, as if bracing against weather. In public he keeps his hands folded over the pommel of his sword. When listening to someone powerless, he bends forward until his armor creaks. When lying, he becomes perfectly motionless except for his left thumb, which rubs the edge of his wedding ring.
