Kaelen Swift-Scale
Species
Brass Dragonborn
Appearance
Kaelen is a lean, long-limbed brass dragonborn built like a runner who has never learned how to stop moving. His polished copper-bright scales catch the sun in overlapping flashes, while the smaller scales around his wrists and ankles are dulled from years of climbing masonry and sliding beneath carts. His amber eyes are bright, narrow, and constantly measuring exits, distances, and hands. The left horn ends in a distinctive jagged missing tip, a permanent souvenir of a desert caravan ambush. He moves with a low, spring-loaded gait, often leaning forward as though the next step has already begun. Despite his hard-used courier gear and predatory alertness, his hands are unexpectedly delicate, with immaculate nails and the careful touch of someone who handles legal seals for a living. He leaves behind an impression of heat, dust, quicksilver motion, and faintly ringing brass.
“His voice is a quick, dry rasp with a warm undertone, like sand sliding across metal. Before speaking, he usually takes a tiny inward breath through his teeth, as though checking whether the words are safe to release.”

Distinguishing Features
The jagged missing tip of his left horn, visibly worn smooth around the break.
A brass mailbag that gives off a soft, irregular chiming even when nothing inside should be moving.
A habit of tilting his head toward distant bells before anyone else notices them.
Immaculately cared-for hands contrasted with battered boots and heavily repaired clothing.
A thin line of dark blue scales beneath his jaw, unusual among local brass dragonborn and inherited from his unknown paternal lineage.
Voice
“Rapid, dry, and alert, with a faint metallic rasp. His voice can shift instantly from conspiratorial whisper to carrying rooftop call, and he has an uncanny talent for imitating the tone of Exchange bells.”
Clothing
A lightweight gray leather courier's tunic treated with desert wax, reinforced at the shoulders and ribs, with mismatched repairs in blue and ochre thread. He wears soft-soled running boots designed for slate rooftops, fingerless gloves with brass caps on the knuckles, a narrow hooded scarf for dust storms, and a heavy brass mailbag slung across his chest. The mailbag is battered everywhere except for its polished clasp, which he oils and buffs obsessively.
Body Language
Kaelen rarely stands squarely. He angles his torso toward the nearest escape route and keeps one foot slightly raised as though testing the ground. His fingers drum coded rhythms against his brass mailbag. When lying, he becomes unnaturally still and folds his hands with ceremonial neatness. When genuinely frightened, he smiles too quickly and begins counting nearby bells under his breath.
