Appearance
Kest is a small owlin child with soft, downy feathers that look like storm clouds brushed with charcoal and silver dust. His face is round and alert, framed by a ragged halo of pin-feathers that never quite lie flat, as if he is always half-ruffled by a secret wind. He moves with quick, jerky bursts when excited, then freezes utterly still when he thinks he is being watched. Despite his birdlike elegance, he wears the stubborn expression of a street rat who has learned to smile while lying and to run while laughing.
