Elara Vane-Tide
Wizard 13, Abjuration and Chronurgy; Artificer 4, Chronurgist
Elara Vane-Tide
Species
Sea Elf, adopted into House Naminsiyesh
Appearance
Elara is an extraordinarily pale sea-elf woman with sharp, angular features that seem carved from wet ivory. Her long silver-white hair hangs in ropes rather than waves, tangled with dried salt crystals, tiny bits of brass wire, and translucent fragments of shell. Her wide violet eyes are permanently bloodshot from sleepless nights, and her left eye is hidden behind a heavy brass acoustic monocle that presses a red groove into her temple. She moves with abrupt, tidal gestures, stopping completely before surging into motion as though pulled by an invisible current. Her fingers twitch in precise conducting patterns whenever she hears machinery or thunder. The unexpected contradiction is that, despite her exhausted, haunted appearance, she has a remarkably gentle smile and handles fragile instruments with the delicate patience of a conservator restoring a priceless manuscript.
“Rapid, fragmented whispers delivered with sudden technical precision. She often counts under her breath, changes tense when discussing time, and addresses machines as if they were senior colleagues.”

Distinguishing Features
Brass acoustic monocle strapped over the left eye and connected to her collar by braided copper wire.
Salt crystals permanently embedded in several locks of hair.
A thin scar around her throat from a pressure-suit harness that nearly drowned her.
Violet eyes with faint concentric rings visible around the pupils.
A habit of tapping three times before entering any room.
Voice
“A dry, breathless contralto that rarely rises above a whisper. Every few sentences, her voice is interrupted by a soft click from the monocle or a faint harmonic hum from the copper probes.”
Clothing
An ink-splattered, salt-crusted academic coat hangs over layered blue-grey robes reinforced with stitched copper thread. She wears fingerless leather gloves fitted with copper touch-probes, waterproof trousers, soft-soled deck shoes, and a wide utility belt carrying crystal tuning forks, measuring needles, chalk, and sealed ampoules of seawater.
Body Language
She leans toward sounds rather than speakers, conducts invisible rhythms with two fingers, and periodically presses her palm against nearby walls. When calm, she folds her hands over her stomach like a resting diver. When frightened, she becomes perfectly still except for the rapid clicking of her monocle's focusing gears.
