Vornak Emberhold
Forge Cleric
Vornak Emberhold
Species
Dwarf
Appearance
Short, broad-shouldered and compact like a living anvil. Vornak's beard is a braided cascade of dark auburn threaded with fine copper wire and tiny iron beads; each bead is stamped with a rune for a fallen apprentice. His skin carries a permanent gray soot in the low lines of his palms and under his fingernails, as if the forge never quite leaves him. He favors a heavy leather apron over polished chain, and his left forearm is ringed by a jagged white scar that glows faintly if he channels divine energy. Moves with the grounded slowness of a smith who weights every step — yet in moments of prayer or awe he becomes unpredictable, rocking on the balls of his feet and waving his hammer like a conductor. Contradiction: he wears a fresh wildflower behind his ear on holy days, petals pristine against a face smudged in ash.
“Gruff and measured; uses smithing metaphors and old-Proverbs. Tends to speak in short declarative clauses and punctuates serious statements with a soft tapping sound on nearby metal.”

Distinguishing Features
Jagged white burn scar circling left forearm
Braided beard threaded with copper wire and rune-beads
Small iron meteorite pendant worn beneath his apron
Missing left index fingertip (forged off in a past accident)
Voice
“Gravelly and resonant, low in pitch; warms noticeably when speaking of faith or apprentices, becomes clipped and hard when angered.”
Clothing
Heavy chain shirt beneath a soot-dark leather apron embroidered with the Emberhold sigil, sturdy traveler's boots, a short hooded cloak patched with prayer cloths, and a fingerless gauntlet on his right hand.
Body Language
Careful, deliberate movements; often stands with one hand on his hammer. When excited his hands move rapidly as if shaping metal; when ashamed he avoids eye contact and fiddles with a bead in his beard.
