Species
Human
Appearance
Vespera Cole is a sharply poised human woman whose stillness feels more deliberate than motion. Her silver-streaked dark hair is drawn into a severe, flawless bun, though one narrow strand always escapes above her left ear by the end of a long briefing. Her keen grey-green eyes sweep a room in quick, surgical increments, never lingering where she wants people to think she is looking. Her hands are narrow and scarred across the knuckles, with ink permanently darkening the cuticles. She walks without a detectable heel strike, turning corners so smoothly that people often discover she is beside them only when she begins speaking. Her presence suggests cold iron, old paper, and locked doors. The contradiction is that she keeps a tiny knitted red mitten tucked into her breast pocket, absurdly bright against her immaculate austerity.
“Her voice is low, dry, and perfectly articulated, with the clipped rhythm of someone reading a verdict. She rarely uses contractions during official business.”

Distinguishing Features
A thin white scar runs from the corner of her mouth to her jaw, left by a wire garrote during the Red Lantern Breach.
Her left eye has a faint gold ring around the pupil, a harmless effect of an old alchemical exposure.
She carries a brilliant red knitted mitten despite having no matching mitten.
Her footsteps are nearly soundless even on loose stone.
The tips of three fingers on her right hand are permanently stained with blue-black cipher ink.
Voice
“Quiet, controlled, and unhurried, with a faint rasp at the edges. It carries through stone corridors without ever sounding loud.”
Clothing
A tailored, high-collared coat of midnight-grey wool designed to muffle sound, fastened with dull iron clasps and free of ornamentation. Beneath it she wears a fitted black waistcoat, soft leather gloves with the fingertips removed, narrow trousers, and flat-soled archive boots. Every seam conceals a pocket, wire, or folded scrap of coded paper.
Body Language
Vespera keeps her shoulders square and her hands loosely folded behind her back. When someone lies, her left thumb rubs once across the edge of her right index fingernail. She rarely points, instead turning her entire head toward the person who has become important. Anger makes her almost motionless. Genuine affection appears as practical adjustments: a chair placed near an exit, a sharpened pencil, a coat silently repaired.
