Boran Kest
Fighter, Rune Knight
Boran Kest
Species
Tectonic Forged, Star-Sand Calibrated
Appearance
Vault-Rune 07 is carved from smooth black basalt polished until it reflects torchlight like wet stone. Copper-wound joints show through narrow seams at his wrists, elbows, knees, and throat, each coil giving off a faint metallic warmth. An amber Star-Sand core burns behind a thick lead-glass chest plate, its light pulsing slowly whenever magic enters the vault. His head is broad and almost featureless except for a horizontal slit of pale gold radiance. He moves with grave, economical precision, placing each foot as though measuring a floor for hidden hollows. The unexpected contradiction is his hands, enormous hammerlike constructs capable of crushing iron, which he uses with extraordinary delicacy when handling paper, tea cups, or injured living creatures.
“His voice is a low, resonant grind, like stone dragged across a sealed iron door. Every word is carefully separated, with brief pauses that make ordinary statements sound like verdicts.”

Distinguishing Features
A thick lead-glass chest plate reveals an amber Star-Sand core that pulses in response to nearby magic.
His left shoulder bears seven shallow calibration grooves, one for each prior archive assignment.
The copper coils in his joints produce a faint ticking sound when he is angry.
He leaves shallow hexagonal impressions in soot and damp ash wherever he stands.
His massive hands can lift a person one-handed, yet he folds letters with painstaking care.
Voice
“Deep, steady, metallic, and surprisingly gentle when speaking to the frightened”
Clothing
A soot-dark vault warden's coat hangs from his shoulders in layered fireproof panels, secured by copper clasps. Beneath it he wears segmented basalt armor, a red archive sash, and a ring of numbered brass seals at his waist. The coat is always dusted with fine gray ash, even after cleaning.
Body Language
He stands unnervingly still, occupying more space than he appears to notice. When someone speaks, he turns his entire torso rather than his head. His hands remain open and lowered, but his fingers subtly align with the seams of his weapon grip whenever a lie, threat, or spell is detected.
