Kava Steel-Scale
Fighter 6 Battle Master / Ranger 2
Kava Steel-Scale
Species
Dragonborn
Appearance
Kava is a young dragonborn whose alertness feels almost painful to witness. Her dark steel-gray scales overlap in fine, regular plates, each one polished until it catches torchlight like wet slate, while narrow brass edges trace the ridges of her shoulders, throat, and forearms. She moves with a braced, economical precision, always seeming to place her feet where an ambush would have the least advantage. Her left horn is neatly filed flat at the tip, a practical alteration made after it repeatedly caught on helmet straps. Despite her martial bearing, she wears a tiny embroidered blue moth beneath her collar, soft and delicate against all that metal. Her presence leaves the impression of a drawn bow that has not yet decided where to aim.
“Her voice is low, clipped, and resonant, with a faint metallic rasp caused by old throat injuries. She speaks in short, exact sentences during emergencies and becomes unexpectedly eloquent when discussing the responsibility of neutrality.”

Distinguishing Features
A flattened left horn tip caused by repeated collisions with helmet straps.
A narrow line of pale scales running from her right eye to the corner of her jaw.
A brass rivet shaped like a moth set into the throat guard.
A slight limp after long marches, concealed by her disciplined stride.
Her tail bears three old iron rings, each engraved with the name of a fallen guard.
Voice
“A contralto rumble with the measured cadence of a watch commander. Every sentence sounds like it has already been tested against three possible emergencies.”
Clothing
Immaculately polished scale-plate armor edged in dull steel and brass, worn over a charcoal blue guard coat. Her red-and-ivory Hall Guard sash is pinned beneath the breastplate rather than displayed openly, and her boots are fitted with silent leather soles for interior patrols.
Body Language
Kava keeps her shoulders square and her weight balanced over the balls of her feet. Her tail makes small, controlled movements when she is thinking, but lashes once when she detects a lie. She rarely turns her back fully on anyone. When angered, she becomes unnaturally still, lowering her chin until the brass lines on her armor point directly at the person speaking.
