Garran Pell
Barbarian
Garran Pell
Species
Half-Orc
Appearance
Garran is a broad, weather-cut half-orc whose body has the dense, practical strength of a quarry worker rather than a wrestler. His olive-gray skin is roughened by mountain wind, powdered pale in the creases by years of road dust, and darkened across the shoulders by hard sun. He waits with his weight on the balls of his feet, heels barely touching the ground, as if every conversation might become an ambush. His lower canines show when his mouth is closed, giving him a permanent look of restrained irritation. His hair is kept in a short, uneven crop, but a single narrow braid hangs behind his right ear, tied with blue thread from his dead mother's sewing basket. The unexpected thing about him is his hands: enormous, scarred across the knuckles, and startlingly gentle when handling bread, children, or injured animals.
“Low, dry, and measured, with a mountain worker's clipped rhythm. He pronounces every name carefully and pauses before numbers, contracts, and threats.”

Distinguishing Features
A narrow blue thread is braided into the hair behind his right ear.
His lower canines remain visible even when his mouth is closed.
He carries a red scarf at his waist and folds it into a precise square before sleeping.
His massive hands are unusually gentle and clean despite the rest of his weathered appearance.
He balances with his heels barely touching the ground whenever he waits.
Voice
“A gravelly baritone that rarely rises above conversational volume. When Garran is furious, he becomes quieter and more courteous, which is more alarming than shouting.”
Clothing
A sleeveless charcoal wool coat over a patched linen shirt, layered leather belts, wrapped forearms, mountain boots reinforced with iron studs, and a red scarf worn around his waist rather than his neck. His clothing is repaired repeatedly with visible gray thread, except for the scarf, which is kept clean and carefully folded.
Body Language
Garran stands slightly forward, as though leaning into a strong wind that nobody else can feel. When waiting, he rocks once from heel to toe and then becomes perfectly still. He rarely points with a finger, instead indicating people and objects with the wooden haft of his axe. When angry, he lowers his chin and begins smoothing the blue thread on his braid.
