Khaliss the Measured
Reliquary Keeper
Khaliss the Measured
Species
Yuan-ti pureblood
Appearance
Khaliss is a lean, tan-scaled yuan-ti pureblood whose lacquered scales catch the sunlight like glazed pottery. Their movements are smooth and economical, with a subtle lateral sway that makes them appear to be gliding even when standing still. Their emerald eyes have narrow black pupils and an unsettling habit of focusing on a person's reflection in a polished object rather than on the person themselves. Their hands are elegant and dry, but the fingertips are permanently stained green from testing the marketplace well. Despite their serpentlike poise, Khaliss has a conspicuously soft, rounded smile that makes them look almost kindly until their expression becomes perfectly still.
“Measured, precise, and soft-spoken. Khaliss never raises their voice in anger.”

Distinguishing Features
Emerald eyes with unusually reflective pupils
A necklace of tiny water-filled glass beads, each from a different well
Green stains beneath the fingernails from testing the marketplace water
A small missing scale beneath the left eye, revealing pale scar tissue
A gentle smile that persists during threats and grim revelations
Voice
“A low, dry contralto with a faint rasp, like a reed dragged across clay. Their words are unhurried and exact, and their final syllables often soften into a near-whisper.”
Clothing
A sleeveless sand-colored robe of tightly woven linen, layered beneath a dark green sash containing hidden vials and wax-sealed notes. Their forearms are wrapped in pale linen strips marked with water-measuring symbols. They wear soft split-toed sandals, a bronze market key at the hip, and a necklace of tiny hollow glass beads filled with water from different wells.
Body Language
Khaliss keeps their shoulders relaxed and their hands folded over the necklace of glass water beads. Their head tilts slightly when listening, as though tracking a distant sound. They rarely blink during negotiations. When angered, the muscles around their jaw tighten and their fingers count the beads one by one.
