Appearance
Kestka appears as a withered, ancient crone standing just over seven feet tall, her narrow body bent forward as if perpetually listening to the floorboards. Her flesh is dry and gray-brown, textured like old birch bark stretched over wire. A pair of jet-black raven wings folds from her shoulders, each feather glossy at the edges and ragged near the roots, as though plucked and regrown a thousand times. Her fingers end in long, flesh-shearing talons that click together when she thinks. A small donkey's tail protrudes through her layered robes and swishes with startling impatience. Her jaw is too broad for her face, and when she laughs, her gums pull back to expose square, humanlike teeth packed in several uneven rows. She grooms those teeth obsessively with a silver pin, yet leaves her hair in a tangled white rope that trails almost to her knees. She moves with contradictory grace: her wings twitch like a nervous bird, while her feet place themselves with the silent precision of a dancer.
“Her voice is low, dry, and intimate, like someone speaking from beside a sickbed. She clips hard consonants and lingers over names.”

Distinguishing Features
Jet-black raven wings with ragged roots and mirror-bright feather edges
A small donkey's tail that lashes with visible irritation
Long flesh-shearing talons that click like knitting needles
A broad, crowded jaw with several uneven rows of square teeth
A silver tooth-pick pin worn behind one ear
A faint smell of cold ashes, wet wool, and crushed juniper
Voice
“A dry contralto with the rasp of feathers dragged over paper, capable of becoming warm enough to sound maternal and cold enough to make a room feel abandoned”
Clothing
A layered mantle of charcoal wool, stitched funeral veils, and faded green ribbons taken from abandoned cradles. Small brass keys hang from her belt beside a pouch of polished black feathers. Her robes are carefully patched but never washed, and the hem is embroidered with tiny angular symbols representing names she has erased from memory.
Body Language
Kestka leans toward speakers with her head cocked sharply to one side, as though listening through their skin. Her talons rest against her palms when she is calm and slowly open when she is deciding whether someone deserves mercy. Her wings remain half-furled around those she protects and spread fully only when she intends to dominate a room.
