Appearance
Brynjar Oduwale is a broad, compact dwarf whose armor seems to have been built around a moving piece of masonry. His shoulders are square, his beard is braided into four thick ropes, and the ends are capped with dull brass rings that clack softly when he turns his head. His skin is the deep brown of polished walnut, textured at the knuckles and cheekbones like fine-grained leather. He walks with a measured sideways sway, always keeping his shield side slightly forward, yet his hands are unexpectedly gentle and precise when he handles cups, bandages, or small animals. He smells faintly of iron filings, beeswax, and cardamom, a scent he insists comes from the forge and not from him. His most unsettling feature is his stillness: when listening, he can remain motionless for so long that people begin speaking more quietly without realizing why.
“Low, deliberate, and gently rasping, with careful pauses before important words. His Dwarvish becomes more melodic when he is tired, revealing the open-voweled cadence of his mother's Oduwale family.”

Distinguishing Features
Four brass-capped beard braids that click softly when he turns.
A broad tower shield painted with a faded red doorway, its lower edge scarred by countless stone chips.
A small iron key worn beneath his armor on a cord of blue wool.
Smells of beeswax, cardamom, and forge dust even after bathing.
Maintains unnervingly complete stillness while listening.
Voice
“A deep, measured baritone with a dry rasp, like gravel swept across a metal threshold. He speaks softly when angry and becomes unexpectedly musical when recounting old dwarven songs.”
Clothing
Dented chain mail over a charcoal wool gambeson, dark green surcoat bearing the Argent Rampart sigil, reinforced trousers, broad iron-toed boots, fingerless riding gloves, and a weather-stained blue scarf tucked beneath his gorget.
Body Language
Keeps his shield shoulder angled toward strangers, plants both feet before difficult statements, and tilts his head toward sounds others ignore. When relaxed, he polishes a shield rim with his thumb. When frightened, he stops moving entirely.
