About
The Black Anvil is a low, soot-darkened stone shop built around a roaring forge. Heat shimmers above the floor, sparks leap through iron grates, and every wall is crowded with hanging tools, horseshoes, weapon blanks, shields, and half-finished commissions. The air smells of coal smoke, oil, hot metal, and rainwater from the cooling trough. A narrow public counter separates customers from the work floor, while a rear storeroom holds coal, raw metal, packing straw, and locked commission racks. The shop's owner is Brunna Ironvein, a level 6 dwarf fighter and master smith with cropped iron-gray hair, burn scars across both forearms, and a braided beard threaded with copper rings. She is blunt, observant, and proud of reliable craftsmanship. Brunna refuses to sell poorly maintained weapons, charges fairly for repairs, and remembers every customer who has ever failed to pay a debt. Her two young apprentices sleep in a loft above the rear storeroom and know the shop's alarm wires well. The Black Anvil serves caravan guards, local militia, adventurers, and laborers, with most stock designed for durability rather than ornament. Brunna occasionally accepts unusual commissions, especially weapons made from recovered monster parts, but she demands proof that the materials were obtained lawfully.
