About

The Silt-Cut occupies a low stone building where workers once drained a shallow underground pool to make room for a trade passage. Its shelves are packed with ordinary provisions, tools, and travel gear, all arranged beneath hanging fungus-lamps and curtains of dark woven silk. One locked iron grille holds the Driftglobe, its soft light glinting in the polished black stone counter. The air smells of lamp oil, resin, and dried cave herbs. The shopkeeper, Dagna, is a drow commoner who speaks plainly, keeps exact accounts, and distrusts anyone who handles merchandise without asking. She offers a fair price to customers who are courteous, but keeps a crossbow within reach and knows which floorstones creak.

The shop's valuables are split between a counter cashbox, the owner's sleeping alcove, and a concealed stockroom nook. A tripwire bell links the stockroom to the owner's quarters.

Security check: DC 14Dexterity (Thieves' Tools)
If they fail: A concealed wire bell rings in the stockroom, alerting the shopkeeper and her two adult drow relatives in the adjoining rooms. They bar the front shutter, call for nearby patrols, and confront the intruders under the lanterns. If the party retreats, the shopkeeper remembers their faces and reports the attempt to local authorities.
