About

The shop is run by fifteen-year-old Bori, who keeps the shelves and accounts while caring for their chronically ill father, Gell. Bori is practical, sharp-eyed, and protective of the upstairs room. Prices are modest, but rare ingredients are sold only in small quantities. A bell on the entry door is easy to miss beneath the clutter of drying herbs.

Stash

4 items to steal

The stash · GM only

The shop keeps its modest cash and account book beneath the front counter. Costlier ingredients are in a locked cabinet near the rear worktable, while personal belongings are upstairs in the father's narrow bedroom.

Security check: DC 16Thievery
If they fail: A bell strung behind the counter rings if the front door is forced or the narrow cabinet is jostled. The teenager hurries out from the rear workroom and calls for help, while their father wakes coughing upstairs. Nearby shopkeepers respond quickly; the party is confronted, and the town guard may be summoned.
The whole haul: About 7 gp

Till Purse1 gp
Kept: Tucked under the counter beside the weighing scales.
A day's mixed receipts, mostly copper and silver, wrapped in paper beneath the counter.
Value: 1 gp, 8 sp, 6 cp
Father's Worry-Bead2 sp
Kept: On the bedside table in the small upstairs room.
A worn wooden worry-bead with a shallow groove from years of handling. It has little resale value but is clearly treasured.
Saffron Jar4 gp
Kept: On the highest shelf of the locked ingredient cabinet.
A stoppered jar of imported saffron, kept for a regular physician's prescription. The seal is stamped with a tiny sunburst.
Household and Customer Ledger1 gp
Kept: In a shallow drawer beneath the counter, under folded wrapping paper.
A ledger listing customer names, small debts, and the medicines used for the ailing father. Stealing it could expose private troubles and unpaid accounts.
Value: 1 gp to an unscrupulous buyer; substantial personal harm to the family
