About
The shop is called Bellows Take the Slow, a warning the previous smith painted above the forge after a runaway bellows fire scorched the rafters. The words remain because the locals say repainting them would tempt the same misfortune. Its low, soot-blackened doorway opens into a cramped, hot room, where tongs hang in careful rows and sparks skip across the stone floor. The owner, Bríd Cwm, is a broad-shouldered human smith with singed cuffs, close-cropped gray hair, and a habit of listening to a blade's ring before judging its quality. She speaks little, charges fairly, and insists that visitors stand clear of the forge mouth. Her apprentice sleeps in the rear workroom, so late-night theft risks waking someone who knows every creaking board.
