About
The shop, called The Under Registry, takes its name from the record-keepers who once catalogued goods entering the pyramid's lower chambers. Its shelves are cut directly into the stone, and old scroll cases are stacked between book-filled niches. Fine dust lies over the floor except for a clean track that runs from the counter to a curtained passage. The air smells of dry papyrus, wax, and a faint medicinal bitterness. The proprietor, Qorun, is a soft-spoken human book dealer whose calm, familiar manner seems at odds with the buried chamber around him. A cult has been drugging him and carefully maintaining his belief that this is his ordinary shop aboveground. He trades readily with adventurers and accepts unusual writings from the cult, but grows uneasy when asked about the passage behind the curtain or the gaps in his memory.
