About

The Cut Reeds stands where the old riverside reed beds were cleared to make room for the road. Bundles of feathers hang from rafters, and the air smells of beeswax, wood shavings, and wet leather. Every bow is tested with a single draw before sale, and every arrow is rolled along the counter to check that it flies straight. The shopkeeper keeps the best stock behind the counter and refuses to sell practice arrows as battle-ready ammunition.

The modest stash is split between the sales counter and the workshop behind a half-height partition. A loose floorboard hides the day's till; the rear door is fitted with a simple bell and catch.

Security check: DC 14Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) to lift the catch and take the till quietly; thieves' tools may be used to open the locked ledger drawer.
If they fail: A bell tied to the rear door latch rings if it is opened without first lifting the catch. If alerted, the shopkeeper bars the front door and calls to the neighboring watch post; a would-be thief caught inside is detained and the local authorities are summoned.
