About

A tiny brass chime hangs over the back-room door. It is not magical, but the owner insists it is the shop's most reliable ward. The owner is wary of anyone touching the sealed vials without asking.

Stash

4 items to steal

The stash · GM only

The shop's modest valuables are kept in the owner's cramped workroom behind the sales floor. A locked cabinet holds the ledger and a few reserved goods; the day's cash is hidden beneath the counter.

Security check: DC 14Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) to lift the counter purse, or Dexterity with thieves' tools to open the locked cabinet
If they fail: A brass chime over the back-room door rings if the cabinet is forced or the counter bell is disturbed. The owner calls for the town watch while keeping the front door in view; if the party is caught, they are confronted and asked to return the goods, with the watch summoned if they resist.
The whole haul: About 56 gp

Counter-Takings Purse18 gp
Kept: Tied beneath the rear edge of the sales counter
A small leather purse containing the day's mixed takings, mostly silver and copper with a few gold pieces.
Value: 18 gp, 7 sp, 4 cp
Family Portrait2 gp
Kept: On a narrow shelf in the owner's back room
A brass-framed portrait of the shopkeeper's family, kept carefully polished despite its modest value.
Unclaimed Moonstone25 gp
Kept: Inside a locked drawer beneath the worktable
A thumb-sized moonstone wrapped in felt, kept for a customer's order. It is attractive to fences but traceable if sold locally.
Order Ledger10 gp
Kept: In the locked cabinet behind the owner's worktable
A stitched ledger of credit sales, deliveries, and the names of several local buyers. The information may be more useful than the paper itself.
Value: 10 gp to an interested rival or investigator
