The shop is called the Aureate Triumph, a narrow Roman-inspired boutique built into a former bathhouse arcade. White marble columns frame its entrance, each wrapped in bronze laurel leaves. Inside, lamplight slides across polished gold, red porphyry counters, and glass cases filled with rings, fibulae, pendants, and carved stones. The air carries hot metal, cedar oil, and expensive perfume, while the faint chiming of hanging chains follows every movement. Several gemstones emit a restrained magical glow, blue, violet, or amber, making the shop seem lit by captured stars. The proprietor serves only wealthy clients and addresses every visitor as though they have already entered into a negotiation. A pair of discreet guards watches from the rear colonnade, while apprentices work behind a bronze screen, their files whispering against silver. The shop closes each evening beneath a heavy iron shutter engraved with the imperial eagle, and the owner personally checks every lock before carrying the day’s ledger into the back room.
