About

The shop sells dangerous stock discreetly, not openly. Buyers give a password at the door and are searched for badges, scrying tokens, and visible holy symbols. Most prices are negotiable only if the buyer proves they can pay. The rarest goods are kept off-site until a deal is made.

Stash

5 items to steal

The stash · GM only

The stash is split between the front counter, a private upstairs alcove, and a concealed back room. Customers are watched by two lookouts posing as loiterers; the owner has a clear view of the main entrance.

Security check: DC 17Dexterity (Thieves' Tools)
If they fail: A hidden bell-wire under the counter rings in the locked back room. Pella Voss blocks the front exit while her two lookouts move to cut off the alley. If the party is caught, she demands the stolen goods back, payment for the disturbance, and a favor before she lets them leave. If they resist, the lookouts raise the alarm and the city watch arrives within minutes.
The whole haul: About 1,995 gp

Till strongbox280 gp
Kept: Bolted beneath the counter, behind a false panel.
A shallow iron strongbox holds mixed coin and a few clipped foreign pieces, kept ready for discreet purchases.
Pella's effects15 gp
Kept: Inside a locked drawer in the upstairs sleeping alcove.
A small silver comb, a pair of reading spectacles, and a folded note reminding Pella to visit her sister. The note could reveal a personal connection or be returned for leverage.
Value: 15 gp, or greater value as leverage
Coded ruby500 gp
Kept: Hidden inside a hollow section of the shop's brass scales.
A thumb-sized ruby, wrapped in felt and tagged with a buyer's coded mark. It is valuable but recognizable to the buyer.
Black ledger300 gp
Kept: In a waxed leather sleeve beneath loose floorboards in the rear storeroom.
A ledger of dates, initials, quantities, and payments, with enough clues to implicate several smugglers and one corrupt customs clerk.
Value: 300 gp to the right buyer; dangerous to possess
Scroll packet900 gp
Kept: In a locked cabinet behind the false wall of the back room.
A sealed packet of three spell scrolls, each protected from damp and marked with a stolen noble-house seal.
